Over the years Ronin Consulting has provided services to many
Chicago Companies. Below is a list and some of the Projects our consultants
have completed.
The Options Clearing Corp
Developed and managed the project plan for the build out of the OCC remote
disaster recovery site, “Phoenix”. Documented use and interaction of
systems in Data Center for escalation procedures. Developed business
continuity plans for each functional department. Gathered and translated
business requirements into Service Level agreements (SLAs). Produced
company wide disaster recovery plans and presentations for upper
management.
Project lasted 410 days and involved
all aspects of the OCC. A solution was devised using diverse redundant fiber
links and Nortel’s DWDM system to provide seamless connection between the two
buildings during the two months of the physical move. The project was a success
and did not require implementation of risk mitigation plans or any back up
facilities or Disaster Recovery. Managed 6 other Project Managers. Environment
included Novell, NT4, NT200, Solaris Unix, HP Unix and mainframe servers, Cisco
switches and routers, Windows XP, Oracle, DB2 and Access databases.
Chicago Mercantile Exchange
Managed and designed complete redesign
and migration project plan for the Chicago Mercantile Exchange’s 10 year
old Token Ring network. Project included analysis of present system,
design of transition and final state network, working with vendors,
employees and contractors, negotiating contracts. With a budget of $15
million, each step was presented to management and to the Board of
Directors. Environment included Cisco and Cisco catalyst switches.
Kraft Foods

Designed and managed rollout of network infrastructure and front end
design for Kraft Foods. Migration of networked Windows desktops across
the nation in 18 month project.
GusTech
Technical analysis and
project management of all aspects of life cycle management for startup
company that provided computers and Internet access in hotel rooms. With
orders of up to 250,000 hotel rooms, GuesTech needed complete support
including equipment purchase to replacement and disposal, three years
later. Responsibilities included project and flow plans, equipment
forecasting to manufacturers, purchasing, staging, installation,
communications, support, billing and usage infrastructure, repair,
technology migration and refresh. Total 2 year contract cost was $40
million in services and $300 million in hardware. Environment included
Microsoft NT 4 servers.

system, reporting to the Vice President of IT
Geo Logistics
·
Designed and implemented network operations center for Geologistics
(formerly Bekins) using CiscoWorks and Openview Network Node Manager (NNM)
and ITO (now OVO).
Tenneco
Managed design, implementation and staffing
of the $5.7 million International Technology Operations Center (ITOC) for
worldwide support of Tenneco and Tenneco affiliates. Reviewed network
management strategies and RFP submitted by vendors. Developed and
monitored company wide project plan involving 5 managers and 12
consultants. Environment was comprehensive and included NT4, NT200,
Solaris Unix, HP Unix and mainframe servers, Legacy mainframes, Service
Guard, BMC, Concord, OpenView NNM and ITO, Ciscoworks, Cisco switches and
routers, Windows XP, Oracle, DB2 and Access databases.
Managed relocation and move of personnel and IT systems to new location in a one
year project. Combined three separate Tenneco Divisions into the new world
headquarters in Lake Forest. Required managing internal and contracted
resources.
State of Wisconsin
Lead and implemented a centralized NOC using HP Openview Network Node
Manager 6.31, IT Operations 7.1 (now OVO) and ECS on a Sun v880 running
Solaris 8 (2.8). Integrated Ciscoworks 2000, Managewise 2.7, InSight
Manager, DS Expert / DS Analyser, Motorola Wireless Office and Cisco IDS (netscout)
with an Oracle 8 repository to manage 115 Novell Servers and 70 Microsoft
applications servers on a Cisco based wide area network across the state
of
Wisconsin.
Hercules Hydraulics

Responsible for design, analysis, modification and support of UNIX based MRP II
manufacturing computer system, as well as supervising six person support staff.

Implementation plan completed in 17% of budgeted time with 100% success rate for
implementation.
Illinois School District 15
Managed design and implementation of
the
Northwest
Suburban School Systems network operations center.
System allowed remote management via web based collection tools implementing HP
OpenView and Ciscoworks. Remote access utilized JavaScript and XML.
Hewlett Packard
Originator and developer of Hewlett Packard’s
premier network management web site.
Programmed in FrontPage and later Macromedia Dreamweaver, the site used cutting
edge programming technology including Java, ASP, JavaScript, XML and CSS
fronting a Microsoft Access database. Website quickly became the most popular
web site for network management with 2,000 new users per week and hosting 13
international users groups.
R R Donnelly
Lead and managed a project to
implement a $17 million strategic messaging system for Donnelley’s 17,000 user
network using Novell and ManageWise.
U S Cellular
Acted as Manager of Networking for a
new wireless communications firm. Managed helpdesk and network implementation
for a $5 billion company. Managed a staff of eight employees.
Sprint
Conducted analysis of Sprint’s 150
site, mission critical, frame relay network. Provided solution that resulted in
savings of $1.8 million per year with $525,000 initial investment.
Montgomery Wards
Designed and managed implementation
of $4.5 million network linking Montgomery Ward’s 141 satellite locations across
the United States using Novell and Oracle data warehouse.
Shearson
Lehman Brothers
Designed and managed Oracle
relational database and supporting network to provide stock tracking for
Shearson Lehman Brothers – Asia.
