EXPERIENCE: 

Aug. 1999 - Dec. 2001 AT&T Solutions; Bank One DMZ

Network Management Engineer

¨       Administered, maintained, and managed all DMZ Network and Systems Management tools and Performance and Capacity planning tools. (e.g., HP OpenView Network Node Manager & IT/Operations; NNM map operations; NNM filters; NNM Distributed Internet Discovery and Monitoring concepts; NNM Database maintenance, MIB Compiling, CiscoWorks 2000, VitalSuite, Q-page)

¨       Configured and maintained SNMP on all infrastructure equipment.

¨       Configured Threshold monitoring (and notification) for all critical devices within the DMZ.

¨       Monitored communication lines & network traffic for deficiencies in segment loading, collisions, and congestion.

¨       Installed and maintained remote business partner connections.

¨       Assisted firewall team in administration and maintenance of Cisco Pix Firewalls and Nokia Firewalls running CheckPoint.

 

Jan. 1997 - Aug. 1999 Ohio Department of Human Services; Bureau of Network Support

Network Engineer (NOC Supervisor)

¨       Managed all network infrastructure equipment (e.g., routers, switches, hubs). Primarily Cisco some Bay.

¨       Designed, implemented, monitored and maintained  Wide Area Network consisting of 10,000 + users, 290 + servers, and 150 + sites. Primarily NetWare 4.1x (200 +), some Microsoft NT 3.51 and 4.x (10+), Unix (HP‑UX and Solaris). 

¨       Maintained Domain Name Server (DNS).

¨       Assigned and tracked all Static and DHCP assigned IP Address’.

¨       Implemented and maintained global naming conventions among multiple servers, routers and networks.

¨       Installed and maintained LAN/WAN monitoring systems.

¨       Ran network diagnostics and managed devices using SNMP, HP OpenView, IT/O,  NetMetrix, CiscoWorks, Optivity, Compaq Insight Manager, and Novell ManageWise.

¨       Distributed day to day task among Network Operations Center personnel and reported to senior management any impending problems which adversely affected ODHS networking functions.

Information Systems Manager / Network Administrator

¨       Non Commissioned Officer in charge (NCOIC) of Information Systems Management Office (ISMO) and the Marines within the ISMO.

¨       Imaged, maintained, and managed servers; ran all network cable for entire units LAN.

¨       Created and managed over 200 network user accounts.

¨       Purchased and maintained computer systems and equipment and installed and maintained all software for a unit of over 2000 Marines and sailors.

¨       Controlled and maintained units classified data.

¨       Installed and repaired all hardware and peripheral equipment.

¨       Provided 24 hour on‑call technical assistance.

 

Nov. 1991 - Jan.1994 2nd Marine Regiment

Telecommunications Center Supervisor / Asst. Network Administrator

¨       Transmitted and received Naval message traffic from PC to PC, via encrypted High Frequency radio and Asynchronous communications.

¨       Maintained all cryptographic gear for the communications platoon.

¨       Maintained records and logs for units classified and unclassified message traffic.

¨       Administered network accounts, network printers, and shared network drives for entire headquarters.

                                               

MAJOR ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

¨       Installed and implemented a new OpenView Distributed Environment within the Bank One DMZ consisting of 5 HP OpenView NNM Polling Stations and 2 HP OpenView ITO Management Stations.

¨       During "Operation Assured Response" in Monrovia, Liberia, developed satellite dial‑in capabilities which provided the unit commander and primary staff officers with Internet access.

¨       While deployed in the Mediterranean Sea in 1996, received a Navy Achievement Medal, Gold Star, for implementing the first ever Wide Area Network aboard the USS Guam. Using the ships satellite communications and a Cisco 2500 Series router, established a server to server connection with a Banyan Vines server in Europe. This link provided the unit with world wide Internet access.

¨       While deployed in the Adriatic Sea in 1994, received a Navy Achievement Medal for developing and installing the first shipboard classified Local Area Network out of existing inoperable equipment. Maintained a database to route classified message traffic to the primary staff. Developed needed training for users.
