"Operation Assured Response" in Monrovia, Liberia, developed satellite
dial‑in capabilities which provided the unit commander and primary staff
officers with Internet access. ¨
While
deployed in the Mediterranean Sea in 1996, received a Navy Achievement Medal,
Gold Star, for implementing the first ever Wide Area Network aboard the USS
Guam. Using the ships satellite communications and a Cisco 2500 Series router,
established a server to server connection with a Banyan Vines server in Europe.
This link provided the unit with world wide Internet access. ¨
While
deployed in the Adriatic Sea in 1994, received a Navy Achievement Medal for
developing and installing the first shipboard classified Local Area Network out
of existing inoperable equipment. Maintained a database to route classified
